General Questions
What is myHogwarts.co.uk?
myHogwarts.co.uk is a fan-powered social network for Harry Potter fans. It allows you to connect with your friends, meet new fans and fully immerse yourself in various aspects of the Harry Potter fandom. Writers, graphic designers, programmers, educators, illustrators, organizations, fansites, musicians, organizers and others have all come together to volunteer -- to combine their skills in order to create the perfect website. MH is a platform for people of all age groups to discuss all things Potter: ages 13 to 113. To learn more about the features and capabilities of myHogwarts, visit our Inside myHogwarts area.
Are you associated with Pottermore, JK Rowling or Warner Bros.?
myHogwarts.co.uk is not associated, endorsed or affiliated with any of the official Harry Potter entities. MH is a website created by fans, for fans, in order to organize and celebrate the fandom.
Is this a free website?
Yes! There isn't a single paid feature of MH, and there never will be.
Is there an age restriction?
Yes. We require all users be 13 years of age or older. This is not a virtual Hogwarts website, those of which traditionally accept users 11 and older. MH is more of a social networking site, and is mostly geared toward the 16+ age range.
Will I be sorted at myHogwarts.co.uk?
No, we do not have a sorting component. Fans typically know which House they belong to, so we require you to choose a house when registering. If you are unsure of your Hogwarts house, we recommend you visit JK Rowling's official Pottermore website to be sorted.
Is this a game?
No. If you are a fan looking to experience Hogwarts, or roleplay, you will not find what you are looking for at myHogwarts.co.uk. We are a social network aimed at allowing fans to connect, discuss and interact around the series they love.
Will there be classes?
We are planning to release a classroom component of myHogwarts.co.uk in September 2012, but we are still working on the development of this feature. If released, the feature would allow MH users to create, or attend, original courses by other users.
Is "myhogwarts.com" part of the .co.uk website?
It is not. The .com site is a roleplay Hogwarts-type of website, and has been around for over five years. We're the new kids on the block, are completely different individuals who have an entirely different purpose for fans.
myHogwarts Library
What is the myHogwarts Library?
The MH Library is a component that allows fans to read and write books as part of a massive library. One step above fanfiction, we encourage fans to further create the universe of Potter by writing both in- and out-of-character books. You can learn more about the Library in detail at our Inside myHogwarts Library page.
How can I publish a book in the Library?
Every user has the ability to create an Author Profile - a profile just to keep track of your author persona. This Author Profile can contain a headshot and biography, and is also attached to each book you publish to the MH Library. Each Author Profile gets its own URL as well, to easily list all the books published by that person.
What sorts of books are accepted/published into the Library?
Books can be in-character (fanfiction) such as your own version of Rita Skeeter's 'The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore', or out-of-character, like a study of Voldemort's path of destruction. If it's about Potter, you can publish it.
wrockBOX Wizarding Radio
What is wrockBOX?
wrockBOX is an entirely-online radio station that streams 24/7 wizard rock, with a set air schedule for each day of the week. Beside wizard rock, wrockBOX airs wizarding-style commercials, shoutouts from wizard rockers, talk shows, podcasts, real Quidditch matches, and DJ-hosted programming. You can learn more about it by viewing the Inside wrockBOX page.
How can I submit my own music or other content to wrockBOX?
As a myHogwarts.co.uk member, you have the ability to create a Musician Profile, which can contain an alias, photo and biography about yourself. Once this is created, you can create a band (even as a solo artist) and upload your own music directly into the station for all to hear. If you were interested in contributing in other ways, such as creating a fun commercial or delivering your own show, you can do so on the wrockBOX part of the website.
Can I listen to wrockBOX on my phone, or in my car?
Yes, absolutely. When you visit the wrockBOX part of MH, we have a wrockBOX Mobile area which contains easy-to-use guides on getting wrockBOX on your phone, and by extension - your car! Best part is - it's free!
If you have any other questions that weren't answered here, we recommend you ask it via message or post it on our Facebook page at http://www.fb.com/myHogwarts.co.uk. Typically the fans can answer quicker than we can, so be sure to give that a go if needed.
